My LNY experienceI was extremely fortunate to participate in Leadership New York (LNY) and explore a wide range of policy issues. An in-depth look at the issue of undocumented workers took us from Staten Island where we met day laborers to the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs. We examined the NYC Budget process by meeting with high level officials around the city. Candid conversations with top NYPD officials regarding the controversial Stop and Frisk policy and tough questions for a Chancellor at the Department of Education regarding school closures were among the many highlights.
My time with LNY has challenged my thinking in a number of ways and has made me a better manager equipped with new tools to tackle the challenge of serving multiple stakeholders as a public official. I'm now a more informed, engaged, and invigorated citizen of New York City. As a new member of the Coro Alumni community, my professional growth continues through workshops and behind-the-scenes tours of projects that have a major impact on the citizens of New York.
Being part of the Coro experience helped answer my question, "why do I do what I do?"
