Dear Friends,
Like so many others across the country, the Coro staff gathered together on January 20 to watch the inauguration of our next President. We were moved not only by the historic nature of the day, but also by the inspiration of a leader who understands the "price and the promise of citizenship."
In spite of the great challenges ahead, I feel a sense of hope and optimism for the future with the new Obama administration. I also feel Coro has a responsibility to shape that future as our leaders issue new calls for public service and civic engagement.
At Coro we are also very much focused on the future. This is the time of year we invite over 100 alumni, friends and other New York leaders to join us as we select the 2009-2010 class of Coro Fellows in Public Affairs. I would like to personally invite you to join us for the Fellows Program in Public Affairs Selection Day on March 19, 2009.
Lending your time and talent on Selection Day to help select New York City's future leaders is not only rewarding, but it is also one of the best ways you can connect with Coro New York alumni and friends who are actively living Coro's mission. Please visit our website to RSVP and learn more.
Twenty years ago, Selection Day judges identified Michael Bennet as one of New York's Coro Fellows. Just last month, Michael was named the next U.S. Senator from Colorado. What will next year's class of Fellows aspire to? At a time when effective public leadership is needed more than ever, I hope you can join us and be part of the development of the next generation of civic leaders.
Sincerely,
Scott E. Millstein
Executive Director
