Announcing the Alumni Honoree for Civic Leadership Award

Coro New York is proud to announce the 2011 recipient of the Alumni Award for Civic Leadership is Greg Berman, Executive Director of the Center for Court Innovation and an alumnus of the Coro New York Fellows Program 1993.

The Center for Court Innovation, which recently won the Peter F. Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation, is a public-private partnership dedicated to promoting criminal justice reform both in New York and around the world. The Center operates numerous demonstration projects, such as the Red Hook Community Justice Center, that have been documented to reduce local crime and improve public perceptions of government. The Center is also currently partnering with our Exploring Leadership program to develop a Youth Court at one of our partner schools in Bushwick.

Greg has helped guide the organization from start-up to an annual budget of $18 million and more than 170 employees. He is the co-author of Trial & Error in Criminal Justice Reform: Learning from Failure (Urban Institute Press) and Good Courts: The Case for Problem-Solving Justice (The New Press).

Join us in celebrating Greg's achievements at the Leadership Awards Dinner on May 18th.
