Josh Lockwood (LNY XVI) was recently named one of Crain's "Forty under 40", honoring New Yorkers who have achieved success in their fields before reaching their 40th birthday. Josh was recognized for numerous accomplishments including the construction of the 41-unit Atlantic Avenue complex in Brooklyn, the largest and greenest multifamily project ever built by a U.S. Habitat affiliate and whose financing model is now being replicated by Habitat affiliates across the nation. Tokumbo Shobowale (LNY XV) was recently appointed to serve as Chief of Staff to Deputy Mayor Robert Lieber. In his new role, he will focus on better coordination within the economic development portfolio and across the City portfolio and also take advantage of opportunities to lay the groundwork for long term economic development, such as brokering a deal at the World Trade Center site to ensure development of modern commercial space, developing Hunters Point South for workforce housing, and the transition of Brooklyn Bridge Park and Governors Island to city control.

Geneith Turnbull (LNY XIII) was appointed as Deputy Comptroller for Contracts earlier this year by Comptroller John C. Liu. She is tasked with monitoring the integrity of the procurement process of the City of New York and identifying areas where City resources are being wasted. Read the full press release HERE.

Congratulations to Dr. Charles Moses (LNY II), who was recently awarded a 2010-2011 Fulbright Scholarship. He will be working at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica and plans to use his fellowship to examine regional trade and cooperative agreements and how the current global trading rules impact emerging nations. We are accepting applications for the Immigrant Civic Leadership Program. Applications will be accepted through Friday, May 7th.
The program is designed for those who work to strengthen immigrant communities and seek to expand their capacity as agents of change. Participants represent diverse sectors, including government, media, philanthropy, community-based organizations, the arts, and for-profit businesses. ICLP runs from July through November 2010.
